Who We Are

Marty Munger

Master Trainer

Mathias “Marty” Munger spent 34 years in law enforcement (Airforce 1983-1992, and Marquette, MI PD 1992-2017). He began working with hunting dogs in 1985, and continues to do so today. In 2004, he was selected to establish the first K9 program for the City of Marquette – a program, still going strong, nearly 20 years later. Over the course of his career with Marquette Police Department Marty handled three law enforcement K9s (K9 Nero, K9 Frodo, and K9 Nitro)

In 2007, he joined the National Association of Professional Canine Handlers (NAPCH), quickly building a rapport with numerous other K9 teams, and expanding his knowledge of the K9 world and professional dog-handling. A year after joining the organization he officially became a recognized trainer. In 2012, he achieved Master Trainer status with NAPCH, a position which he maintains today.

In 2012, Marty and his partner, K9 Nero, received the Silver Tag Award from the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter. In 2013, he received the Police Officer of the Year Award for numerous successful explosives indications, as well as narcotics and firearms indications and convictions.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Marty Munger on multiple occasions. He is a master trainer who is patient and will work endlessly to ensure the success of a dog and its’ master.”

– Ofc. Angela Carlson, Bloomfield Twp Police Department

“Marty Munger is an accomplished K9 handler, K9 trainer & teacher. He is one of the best people I know. Marty has had an exemplary career in law enforcement to include training & handling two police K9s, as well as assisting several other agencies with the selection and training of K9s. Marty’s knowledge about dogs is second to none. He adapts his training techniques to obtain the most productive outcome for each dog he trains. Training K9s is only half of the picture when it comes to Marty. He is a great teacher of people as well. Marty connects well with people and delivers information and instruction in a way that is easily understood. I have the utmost respect for Marty’s K9 training abilities, but most of all for him as a person.”

– Ofc. Michael Raby, Southfield Police Department, N.A.P.C.H. Master Trainer

Sammi Grzybowski

Trainer / Decoy / President

In addition to serving as the D&D K9 Dynamics company president, Sammi is also a professional K9 handler, certified alongside K9 Nuke, through the National Association of Professional K9 Handlers. She and Nuke work together to provide explosives and firearm detection to events and venues around the country. In 2023, Sammi and Nuke were deputized with both the Alger and Menominee County Sheriff’s Offices to provide support for tracking and explosives detection.

Through her K9 career, Sammi takes every opportunity to expand her training knowledge, ensuring as much diverse experience as possible. To date, she has trained with over 50 national and international established law-enforcement K9 units, and over a dozen training companies, representing an array of certifying organizations.

Sammi spends her downtime dock-diving with K9 Nuke, practicing nose work with her three Australian Shepherds (Ri, Sully, and Rory), and helping shelter dogs come out of their shells, to gain confidence for their new lives in loving homes.

You can follow along with Sammi’s K9 adventures on Instagram and Facebook.
